On September 7th Opora held a welcome party with the intention of getting acquainted with our new volunteer, Miriam. She comes from the Basque Country, a region in the north of Spain, and will stay with us for 12 months.
The event started with a quiz game with several questions about Spanish and Basque culture prepared by Miriam on the platform KAHOOT. Four different teams competed for the prize and, even though only one group won, they all had a great time and learned some trivia about Miriam’s place of origin.
Once the game ended, we had a little party where we could taste tortilla de patatas (a typical dish from Spain, here is the recipe) while listening to some music and having really nice conversations.
Miriam will be with us for 12 months thanks to the European Voluntary Service (EVS), a project funded by the European Union within the framework of Erasmus+ program. More info about the programme here. If you too are interested in an EVS project at Opora, you can get more information here.
